Yeah, that was fun - getting so worked up over an intermediate sprint. Didn't even seem like anyone did anything dangerous, yet two different arguments came from it.
Anyway, I also expect this to be a prette straight forward sprint finish.

Ar least in Denmark, the cycling press is awful and has no tactical knowledge. Except Emil Axelgaard who writes for TV2 now, and the commentators on Max who are former pros, but the written press and the TV journalists on DR are terrible.
They are more interested in what the wives and girlfriends of the riders say about things than about analyzing the past and next stages.
As for fans, I am not sure. Seems to me that the people who are confused are those who only watch the tour and have not adjusted to how the races are ridden now. Today was pretty predictable I think.
Very exciting finish, and pretty much the same cast as in Dauphiné getting away on the climbs. Impressed with Vingegaards sprint, tbh.
Pretty decent, as the route turns north and follows the coast close to the finish at Boulogne-sur-Mer. But it's very dependent on exactly the angle of the wind, and that can change all the time, so no guarantee.
That's perfect 👌
I'm getting Critérium de Dauphiné stage 1 vibes from this profile. I could see this being Pog, Vingegaard, MvdP, Evenepoel, Skjelmose, Van Aert territory.
In the Dauphiné they only needed a small 300 meter hill to get away from everyone, and this is a much harder stage.
On another note, my family and I went to this part of France a couple of years back and loved it. I had the most amazing seafood platter with a lovely glass of muscadet in Boulogne-sur-Mer.
So, with the number of comments on this thread already I think we need to do daily threads.
I will rename this thread to a race thread for stage 1 and post a new thread tomorrow!
Fun with a bit of waaiers, though they could easily be caught again
Not sure, haven't noticed it on Danish Max - but then it's been on in the background, so I could easily have missed it. Where are you located?
He hasn't looked like he has the guts for the fight for position for a while, plus he hopefully has other duties like keeping Vingegaard out of trouble.
No, but I hope Vingegaard will take it in the third week. I don't expect it, but I hope so.
I agree, they absolutely will not let this stage get away from them. I wonder what the finish is like, if it's technical and could get dangerous.
Edit: Apparently it's a straight run-in followed by a sharp turn 1500 meters from the finish line, then softly undulating 6 m wide roads through the city and a soft curve onto the 200 meter straight flat sprint. Should be pretty safe - but sometimes those "safe" finishes end up being the most dangerous of them all because everyone wants to be in position.
