Follow up to this post: In the video, Glover makes reference to a man named Mr. Far, followed by a shot of himself wearing the outfit he wore on a (sort of) famous episode of David Letterman. Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jm2CbuTdTtE The episode aired on July 28, 1987, and the "Clowny Clown Clown" music video is from 1989, according to the video in the OP. Also, Mr. Farr's full name is Rubin Farr, and Glover played him in the movie Rubin & Ed (1991), which I have not seen but I think I probably will now.

 

What are words for? / When no one listens any more?

 

"Video Killed the Radio Star" was originally released as a single in 1979, and then a slightly different edit was released on their first full-length LP in 1980. So it's sort of a "border" 80s song. And, of course, its biggest claim to fame was being the first song released on MTV when the network first launched (although they used the single edit I think).
