Yes, but Kbin used to show downvotes too. I don't think there should be an illusion that they're private, while they can be exposed.

You can already see votes if you're using different software anyways, check how it looks on my mbin instance, I can click "Activity" and see it already.
I don't think it's something limited to Fedi, but internet in general. The whole social media "algorithm" promotes such posts, an edgy extreme post filled with hate will get more reactions and upvotes, than a "lame" conventional opinion, so you're more likely to see it. I am not sure how to even fix it, I think it's one of the fundamental problems if the internet, but this is how it is

Reddit went public in 2024, soooo-
I use CherryPick, my instance is kitty.social . Fun fact: When I first joined it was a Firefish/Calckey instance, then Sharkey instance and now a CherryPick instance. I like it, even tho iceshrimp.NET looks promising
I like how *key (Misskey and especially it's forks) look, it's like my fav UI of all social media in general, and it's customizable too.
Thunder is available on both platforms as well, but I'm pretty sure it doesn't look as good on IOS as IOS-specific apps
15$/month, I'd donate more, but I'm poor
Nice! Sure, I have a Codeberg account so why not
You could also take inspiration from how Lemmyverse.link does it, because it supports Mbin - https://github.com/RikudouSage/lemmyverse.link
