Why wouldn't the button increase emotional intelligence as well? Losing empathy as you learn more doesn't sound smart to me.

They funded MKUltra for 20 years and only discovered a couple new torture methods that aren't any more effective than the ones they already used. Don't underestimate the US government's ability and willingness to waste money.

Also in the 138th episode spectacular Troy says "Who knows what adventures they'll have between now and the time the show becomes unprofitable" and we apparently haven't hit that point yet.
They aren't publicly traded so put those fears to rest until Gaben dies (may that be FAR in the future), then we have to hope his successor has a similar mindset.
