What the fuck is wrong with Elon Musk?

The list would be long ;)

I always had a thing for certain traits and features often associated with Asian women (no, not the Hollywood kind of Asian women). It doesn't mean I 'm looking at Asian women with lust in my eyes nor that those traits are exclusive to 'Asian women'... whatever that means. I mean, I'm French and there is no such thing as a French woman or man.

For me, it just means that very early on (aka, I was still a little boy) I felt more attracted to those traits than to others and I could find them more frequently associated with 'Asian women'. Where does this attraction comes from? No idea, it just is.

And in case anyone is wondering, nope my spouse is not Asian and we've been doing fine for the 25 years and counting we've been together ;)

As an ex addict to (too many) substances (not marijuana) I can easily see a few cons regarding drug usage but the real pro, if I had to pick one, would be to remove all that money from drug dealers.

Not the OP but we have not owned a car since 2000 and don't want to own any. We can live without one (public transit, walk, bike, Uber or even renting a car when it's really needed... last time must have been 11 years ago). Why? It's something my spouse and I decided to get rid of when we became aware of climate crisis we were heading into. Likewise, we also stopped using planes completely, I mean, not just for personal travels but also for business (we have not traveled by plane since 2001) and learned to consume less.

I have nothing to offer but some sympathy and one advice: I have two critical backups running: my personal files and the various folders containing my config files.

As I learned more or less the exact same way you just did how critical it is to backup those files too as, losing them by formatting my drive, I instantly realized they're as personal and important as my 'real' files are.

I want a serious answer, how should I find people online to talk to about anything really other than politics?

You don't.

You don't find people online (or IRL) waiting for strangers to start a discussion on some random topic you feel like talking about. Because people, unlike trolls, are busy with their live.

What you can find is people willing to discuss with someone they find interesting or, with any luck, intriguing on whatever topic you both are interested in.

So, what are you interested in? Have you any hobbies, interests, passions? Find small communities around those topics you're interested in, and start posting. Do the work to show you're there and that, maybe, you're worth discussing with.

There is a good likelihood that whoever comes after him will be a lot more competent.

CoughVanceCough. He is bright & very smart, powerful, and young. His Munich speech for example, even though too many of my EU fellow citizens (and representatives as well) dismissed it as non-sense and mean, was quite articulated (very hypocritical too, but that's not the point) and, well, quite informative on what the USA want to do and what the USA will do.

And so is Bessent, in a less rhetorician way even though I don't imagine him becoming a leader but that's just my gut feeling ;)

I’m not American so have given up trying to understand the actions of a mad man.

The issue is not that it's the action of one mad man.

The dude has been elected by a lot of people thinking that his ideas were the way to go. To me that's the real issue. Trump himself could vanish he would as quickly be replaced by some variant with very similar ideas... And that wouldn't change much (save maybe that this other person would be less orange and less illiterate? Maybe)

A single crispy not burnt toast (artisanal bread). Jam (strawberry, apricot or blueberries have my preference). Tea but coffee is OK too.

As others have suggested: next door local shops. And then, other online shops.

For example, here in France, the law make it so books are sold at the exact same price everywhere, be it on Amzn or in one of our local bookshops. I'd rather talk to nice human being than fill a web form, and I'd rather do business with someone that can also do business with me than send money to some billionaire. So, I order at the local shop ;)

I find almost everything I need. It just requires me:

  • to go there, or to pass a phone call (it's nice talking to people or to re-learn to do it... and it's never too late to start doing it either).
  • to plan my purchase, as those small shops aren't open 24/24 and don't have a bazillion and a half items in stock and they can't get it overnight either (which is good too as it helps me distinguish between what I need from what I 'stupidly' want to buy)

And for the rare few things I can't get elsewhere (at the very least I will try to directly contact the seller on Amzn), well, either I will have realized I don't really need them, or I will find some alternative or, then and only then, I will order it on Amzn which since January had not been that frequent, but that's just me.

I wake up every day between 4-5AM (I like how quiet the city is this early in the morning, it's my favorite working time), and I never needed much sleep to begin with, so I may not be the best suited to tell you how to sleep better but:

  • Does it happen yearly? Change of season can do a lot...
  • As other have suggested: stress is a frequent explanation.
  • Have you changed anything in your evening habits? I don't know, more screen, new food, new anything? Or stopped doing something else?
