This is an insane take. You have no idea how much violence this approach would cause as you confirm almost every gun owners worst fears and play right into the part of playing a tyrannical government.

You are coming off as super privileged here if you think handing over all the guns to the cops is a good idea.

Clearly you've forgotten about those typing classes that everyone had to take, and how many people couldn't even figure out the right way to load a floppy into a drive without a teacher showing them.

Also, Gen X isn't the tech generation. Xennials, the microgen between X and Millenials was the first computing generation. PCs weren't even widely available until most of gen X was already out of k12.

And frankly, most of gen X absolutely sucks at tech. Also, I didn't call you a nerd, I called anyone who was into computers at the time a nerd, because they were literally considered nerds. You probably were a nerd. I was a nerd. Thus WHY I remember how it was back then, and tech was absolutely not largely adopted by gen X.

They were way too busy getting drunk or stoned and calling anyone who could type a pussy.

Do you actually think publishers are necessary for music in the age of digital file transfer? Pirates have been managing without them for quite some time. There are artists who publish straight to the internet and do not use publishers. They are an obsolete institution.

My ability to communicate isn't the issue here. You're either trolling or in this conversation in a dishonest capacity. The points you are trying to counter are not things I have even put forth.

I am really struggling here to see where I said that I was choosing not to share a song with my neighbors in there. Why pivot to an entirely different point?

This is a societal issue, not an individual one.

Where did I ever say I was choosing to not share a song with my neighbors? Who are you arguing with?

You're kidding right? Most of Gen X hated tech when it came out. You were a fucking nerd if you were into computers when the PC first came about. Only a small subset of Gen X really grasped tech.

What does social engagement have to do with any of this? We are talking about ownership of culture.

Why are you defending oligarchy of culture? You have made some amazing leaps in logic here that are not even remotely based in the objective.

The US really has a French origin, they provided the materiel support it needed to revolt. The statue of liberty was a French gift. How far the US has fallen to forget all of that.

500 years ago people would get together in the same space and would sing it together. We still have that in pockets, but that isn't how it is done now.

IP law absolutely does not maintain integrity or cultural significance. You are out of your mind if you think that it is not enabling rampant capitalist exploitation. It has literally given a handful of companies complete power over all of it.

Yeah, so, 50 years later, when you can barely remember the lyrics, you drift from said culture unless you can you know, listen and refresh your memory. That is my entire point. Intellectual property rights paywall culture, and not in a healthy way.

We are currently living in a world with an absolutely fractured culture where very few feel connected to anyone. This is a contributing factor.

I don't misunderstand what you are saying, but the results are all around us for taking this approach and are only going to get worse as we atomize more.
