It predates aliens as little green men. And I'm sure the word is a legally recognized phrase. It's quickly becoming, if not already a slur though. Here's googles etymological breakdown.

The word "alien" originates from the Latin word "aliễnus," meaning "belonging to another, foreign, strange". It's a derivative of "alius," meaning "other," ultimately tracing back to the Proto-Indo-European root "h,élyos. This root also gives rise to the word "else". The word "alien" entered Middle English from Old French, and its earliest usage as a noun and adjective in the 14th century referred to foreigners or strangers.

It's half grift, half an avenue for bribery. Buying a lot of this coin is slightly less conspicuous than showing up at the white house with a sack of krugerrands.

Then again with this administration the grift is just right out in the open. So maybe this is a dumb as it looks.

I just spent ten minutes on Google trying and failing to find it, but there's a novel that uses that basic premise. Humans find this network of observation satellites and are able to tap into the feed and basically watch earth from the 1300's on. The builders are long since gone. Most of the novel is the crew trying to catch up to this museum ship that the network is uploading to.

Was a really good one if anyone knows the name of it.

Edit I found it!

Lol my kitty starts with laying on me and purring loudly. Then onto licking my hair, then onto the paw taps, and finally she'll burrow under the blankets and start crawling all around like crazy.

I have the same exact model and I love them! They're light, a lot of earbuds try to pack too much. I know it seems silly when we're talking grams, but it does make a difference. Well made case. I've had mine for 18 months and they're still holding up.

I also got tip replacements made out of earplug material, they do more than the noise cancellation ever did. I typically don't turn on the noise cancellation as I can't tell the difference and it only serves to drain the battery.

Definitely recommend. And yes the buttons are big and easily mashed. I too live in a cold climate, and they held up just fine. At -30f, which isn't far off from -40

Edit: also the earplug material traps a lot more body heat!

I left this pic in a comment on another post, but she's so cute I figured it deserved its own post.

It starts getting warm and she wants in and out dozens of times a day.
