Heavy emulator user here, the Deck made my Switch obsolete

Oh wow, that the Steam Deck had such an effect on the usage of the switch.

If you don't mind the tinkering to get the emulators configured, the Deck is a no-brainer for me

I don’t really mind tinkering with it, already know my ways with emulation on PC. However, I have no knowledge on Linux and that’s what worries me a bit.

However, the Deck can also run every other console up until Switch/PS3/Xbox 360

So the Steam Deck can run the PS2 emulation and play these games (just as the PC can?).

Most of the games of the Switch I’d like to play are the Mario games. I can name them all if necessary but will do it later (at the moment at work).

On the Deck, ToTK can struggle to reach even 30 in many areas without community modpacks.

Can the Steam Deck run Breath of the Wild without issue?

As I’m uncertain how strict this instance is regarding sailing high seas, I’ll just mention that 95% of my games are through sailing the seas including emulating.

I’d recommend a Steam Deck

Alright! I will message you on Matrix but if it is okay, it’ll be on Saturday or Sunday due to work.

Always love reading your posts!

You seem to emulate a lot on Steam Deck (right?). May I ask how smooth the emulation of Switch games goes?

I have been heavily debating between Switch OLED and the Steam Deck (and then emulate Switch games). But keep hearing different things about how smooth things run.

Steam deck going to cost €700 while Switch €550 (switch + get someone to mod it).

Also; I assumed that BlueSky can see posts from Mastodon but unfortunately can’t find you through BlueSky.

Bit of an odd one but barely nothing because; I barely bought things.

Had studies, no job and the money from internship were saved up to either help parents, medical stuff, pets or “just in case”.

Currently working and most money is also being saved up. Gave myself a budget to spent each month (which is quite a lot) but I barely spent anything, most I’d spent is €50. I can do this because still living with parents and they allow it (encourage it). So I can save up for an apartment.

Only big spending this month will be for a new monitor.

Yes, I hate it. I hate that it fills every image platform. It is not art at all.

It’s a fun toy thing and can make decent images but its not art and can never replace actual art. When you compare for example an anime art of someone who actually drew it and the AI image, the drawn art is 9 out of 10 times better.

It’s also petty pretty easy to spot whether an image is AI or drawn made.

After finishing all the Dexter seasons, I tried three episodes of SweetPea. It as not for me. Then tried 3 episodes of Madmen, same issue. Felt as if it wasn’t for me.

Now watched the first episodes of The day of the Jackal and that seems to be my thing.

And the Enshitification begins…?

I’ve been heavily debating between Steam Deck OLED and Switch OLED. My initial thought was getting a Switch OLED, let someone mod it and then download games on it (I don’t care about Nintendo’s Online).

Then I got told it might be better to get Steam Deck OLED and use emulation on it for switch games.

Now I’ve been a bit of researching on both and it seems that Steam Deck runs Linux and that the emulation isn’t really as good as it is on the PC. I don’t have any knowledge on Linux either, plus most of my games are pirated (thus Steam Library isn’t really a thing for me).

Getting the Switch OLED modded going to cost me about €150 but then I’ve been reading that the games are mostly 30FPS locked and that using cheats and/ or mods is a bit of a hassle (similar thing with getting games on it through piracy).

Price wise; Steam Deck OLED going to cost me at least €680 while Switch OLED will cost me €350 (and when Switch 2 comes it might be on sale).

I was wondering what the opinions are on Piracy community here. Which one do you recommend out of the two and why, how true are the things of what I’ve been told and read?

Note; Yes, I would like to get the Switch 2 but since it’ll take a while before it can get hacked/ modded - I don’t want to get it. I refuse to pay €60-70 for each game while they’re like 7 years old.

I have noticed in some of my own comments that, I can see a heart next to it. It seems to be new (at least for me) and I was wondering how do we use it and for what is it for?

I was not sure which community to post this, so apologies in advance if this is the wrong community.

So made this account a year ago or so and would like to change the account name (not the display name).

But can’t figure out how and where. That’s why I was curious whether it is even possible or not.

Some people just prefer to do so, others cannot afford a VPN just yet. There’s always a reason.

For example; I usually torrent but due to just being graduated, no job yet and so no income. I’ll resort to streaming sites for now.
