my point was from an idealist perspective, "let's get rid of prisons" sounds great.
but when I read such statements, 99% of the time the concept seems to be the end. and no actual plan or realistic prospect to make that fantasy a reality.
"do away with prisons" is an idea that doesn't really seem feasable without a real plan.
meanwhile we can make changes to the prison system we have now to make it more habitable. make laws that protect prisoners while incarcerated. decent facilities, decent exercise equipment, easy ways to become educated or further education.
these are things that just take money to fix. and can be done now.
just because it doesn't typically work that way doesn't mean it shouldn't. blocking should absolutely be a two person thing. block from contact and communication, and block the person from being able to stalk and retaliate or harass you in return.
why is it bad to want that?
