Good thing at least one American in office recognizes the scale of wrong-side-of-history-ness going on in America right now. I wish he'd made more of a stink about it during Biden's term, but this is more of a failure of the American people than Bernie specifically.

They've never cared enough to actually do anything about it, but there was at least grumbling and complaints. Right now I'm not hearing a peep.

I'm not saying it's the fault of PR, but rather that a good voting system alone will not stop fascism. As you said non-right parties need to make better decisions when in power, but also the people themselves need to be more civically engaged outside of elections.

That's definitely true, but then again AfD got the highest number of seats in Germany's last election for example. PR is nice but not much more than a bandaid if your politicians are crooks, which let's face it they are.

That's certainly nice, but it's mostly irrelevant in the long run without a more serious remedy to the issues the far right uses to gain legitimacy.

It doesn't, but it makes—or should make—a difference to the people outside of Afghanistan. This is violence, and therefore a violent response to it is completely justified and shouldn't make the outside world say bullshit like "But extremism!" or "Can't they just Nonviolently Resist™?". Also—and probably more importantly—it's important to be consistent in our understanding of this stuff, because, for example, Zionists use these same fallacies to discredit the Palestinian resistance.

The single biggest stumbling block for any state to leave the union for any reason is the military. Most of the other problems can be resolved within the borders of the state, but the disposition of existing and theoretical new military hardware, personnel, and bases will always be a sticking point even assuming the federal government and the other states are willing to let them leave.

I mean it's California. At that point just get a few neighboring states on board, take all the military hardware and shit and be like "Wanna go to war over it?".
