They've never cared enough to actually do anything about it, but there was at least grumbling and complaints. Right now I'm not hearing a peep.

This article talks more about the ammunition than the actual people being killed. Man I hate imperialist media. Also is the American public just... fine with bombing brown people in the Middle East now? Did they ever care?

I'm not trying to argue for the point or against it (it's not even my comment), but the mod's objection being "You can't call a whole nation Nazi" when Nazi Germany was literally a Nazi nation was funny.

Oh yeah you're right.

Wait are their end of times beliefs not based on the bible?

People in Germany need to vote for better parties and the centre and left parties need to make better decisions when in power, however that is not the fault of pr

I'm not saying it's the fault of PR, but rather that a good voting system alone will not stop fascism. As you said non-right parties need to make better decisions when in power, but also the people themselves need to be more civically engaged outside of elections.

That's definitely true, but then again AfD got the highest number of seats in Germany's last election for example. PR is nice but not much more than a bandaid if your politicians are crooks, which let's face it they are.

I mean Turks are currently giving Erdogan hell; let's hope they succeed.

[–] NoneOfUrBusiness@fedia.io -1 points 2 days ago (6 children)

That's certainly nice, but it's mostly irrelevant in the long run without a more serious remedy to the issues the far right uses to gain legitimacy.

It doesn't, but it makes—or should make—a difference to the people outside of Afghanistan. This is violence, and therefore a violent response to it is completely justified and shouldn't make the outside world say bullshit like "But extremism!" or "Can't they just Nonviolently Resist™?". Also—and probably more importantly—it's important to be consistent in our understanding of this stuff, because, for example, Zionists use these same fallacies to discredit the Palestinian resistance.

The single biggest stumbling block for any state to leave the union for any reason is the military. Most of the other problems can be resolved within the borders of the state, but the disposition of existing and theoretical new military hardware, personnel, and bases will always be a sticking point even assuming the federal government and the other states are willing to let them leave.

I mean it's California. At that point just get a few neighboring states on board, take all the military hardware and shit and be like "Wanna go to war over it?".

There are two avenues to walk. One is reprimanding Orbán. The effect will be that he will become even more annoying. With far right emerging in Europe, it'll be a matter of time before Orbán gets his way. Or, the EU could just let Orbán do whatever he wants. Picking their battles in order to win the ones that really matter.

There's a third: Just expel Hungary from the EU. They can reenter when they rediscover democracy.
