The overarching premise is that while conservatives obstruct and defend their behavior as 'no big deal' liberals are much more likely to say go ahead and put them on trial if their own fuck up. Consider the charges for the last 3 presidents impeached, there are 2 Republicans acting in a outright criminal fashion to use their office for personal gain, and one Democrat who got a BJ. The type and scale of crimes against the public is pretty heavily weighted in one direction.

The big challenge with a leftist/liberal alliance to work against the would-be dictators come at least in part to the method and level of moral compliance demanded. To take some from the other comment I saw, Al was accused by several women of various things, probably the most egregious mentioned as having his hand on the side of someone's breast during a photo.
