How did I come across as "ignorant" Take this from someone who has been to Guatemala. Anyone who knows anything about Guatemala would say what I said.

"The countryside is beautiful and the people are descended from one of humanity’s major civilizations, the Mayans."

You can cherry pick nice places from anywhere. Places like Mexico, Baltimore, South Africa, Brazil, Detroit and Guatemala have have some nice places here and there but let's be honest like most of South America it's a poverty filled shithole and most Guatemalans/South Americans would even agree with me on that.

I didn't establish a hierarchy of nationalities. It's like I'm saying it's bad to be Irish or Lithuanian in a moral sense I'm saying it's bad from the perspective of a Irish or Lithuanian person. Both Ireland and Lithuania are pretty shit tier countries and are very miserable places to live.

As a woman and the op I wonder this myself.

Your not. A lot of people think I'm autistic because of the way I speak but in reality I just have an intellectual disability:(

Why are Americans so obsessed with Ireland? They are always so desperate to prove that they are Irish for some reason. Like, out of all the nationalities you could claim to be why "Irish"? That's like me trying to say that I'm Guatemalan or Lithuanian. Sad thing to be, nonsensical thing to want to be. If you tried to convince me that you were French or Spanish that would make sense you know but Irish? Not even the Irish want to be Irish.

Back when I was 16 my teacher held me after class and told me that me wearing yoga pants and skinny jeans was a "distraction" his words not mine. To this day this story is an odd source of pride for me. To be fair I couldn't blame him.

Ok that's great and all but what if someone outside of a ethnic group can do a solid performance? As I've already said acting is all about playing someone you're not so I don't see the need for an actor to have the same Scottish-indigenous American-Mexican and Somali heritage of a character.

[–] SpaceFox@lemmy.ml 1 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Dude, this is all ridiculous. None of these people are real and yet here you are writing an essay on the race and ethnicity of aliens in a fictional TV show. You're making a mountain out of a mole hill. I really don't care about the the race or ancestry of an actor any more than I care about the color of his hair or eyes.

[–] SpaceFox@lemmy.ml 1 points 1 month ago

Not really. If an actor is good enough that a role then why would they're race matter? Acting is all about being something your not so I don't see a problem with a Asian character being played by a white person or a white person being played by a black person. Also, why would people being hired based on merit be a setback for non-white people? Sounds pretty racist NGL.

I across this interesting page on Wikipedia called "Characters With Narcissistic Personality Disorder" and I was very surprised by the characters that will included. I never thought of Patrick Bateman or Bender as having NPD before. There are some obvious ones like the Wicked Witch from Snow White and Gaston from Beauty And The Beast but are there any others.

For people who are in or where in special education, Why where you there? What was it like? How did you do later in life? And did it have any effect as a adult?

I graduated high school aged 20, Ask Me Anything

I was diagnosed when I was 20 along with other things.

Hi guys,

Until last month I was employed for four years. I just used to have a job at a Pizza place as a driver but due to obvious events that place closed down and I remained unemployed for four years until I got a job at Burger King last month.

Why is it that compared to other mental illness's like depression, ADHD, autism and anxiety people seem to be so hostile to NPD? I always see things about 'mental health awareness' yet this is never applied to personality disorders.

Just look up "narcissism", "NPD" or "narcissistic personality disorder" and the results are about how dangerous people with NPD are and how to spot somebody with NPD or if your ex boyfriend is a narcissist etc... etc...

I was watching this video earlier by a YouTube user 'ShortFatOtaku' called "Low IQ Twitter Discourse Awards!" and there was this one guy on twitter who said that if you claim advocate for the mentally ill you such do so with personality disorders as well. A statement I completely agree with:

https://youtu.be/3EJedJ8MhNA YouTube

ShortFatOtaku response with "wow your going to let that narcissist kill you and take everything from you?" I shouldn't have to explain how bad faith and unhinged that is.

Why do people think this way about narcissists? Having NPD doesn't make someone an inherently bad person. As someone who has NPD I haven't abused or manipulated anyone ever. Sure, I struggle with empathy, I have to make an effort to think about other people and ok I have a never ending need for validation but that doesn't mean I'm a bad person I understand I have a problem I didn't choose to be like this. Manipulation and grandiosity are awful traits that I have but they don't define me. I'm a good friend, I'm a good sister, I'm a good coworker and there are people out there who benefit from my existence. NPD doesn't have to define me I'm more then my diagnosis.

I've had female friends and I've had male friends but for some reason I've noticed that females are more intimate and close to there friends then males are. Is this true for all male friends?
