As someone who's trying go find my place online... Having tried Mastodon, Lemmy, mBin, nostr, bsky, wafrn, etc. Lemmy is by far the most hostile and it's not even close. Yes there may be more trolls on nostr. But it's obvious trolling. Not serious hostility.

Honestly, Lemmy feels like an echo chamber. I only rarely see people disagreeing with the OP or being willing to accept different opinions without judging.

On other networks, I don't sense as much anger or judging based on single statements. I once made an unfortunate and unclear statement on Bluesky and while the immediate reaction from some of the other people in there was definitely negative, it was more of a conversation and it actually ended up feeling like we all ended up moving on. Lemmy feels more like a place where you say something that's borderline centrist and you'll be slaughtered in bright daylight and hung out to dry.

But I may just have been browsing the wrong communities I guess.

I'm not saying I'm not an asshat at times. I am human, after all. It's just that on other networks, I feel there's more opportunity to have an actual debate instead of being lynched by a thousand anonymous community-beloved personalities.

I know it may seem that way, but I think you have too much trust in EU. And I am living in the EU myself.

EU definitely is also playing around with totalitarianism and fascistic tendencies. It's just they're able to get away with it under guise of "think of the children", which happens to actually be widely accepted argumentation in EU, as opposed to the US where you can literally befriend the most well known PDF file and still become the president.

Also, we have lots of doofuses here that legitimately adore the mango man and his crew. I'm really not sure why that would be, but it clearly is (go to any legacy social media and see it for yourself).

I think we're in a stage of global regression of the mind. People starting to believe totalitarianism is necessary. The only country I've heard that actually firmly stands against USA here in EU is Spain.

It was always an american disease from my perspective. But it slowly infected Europe. Now every goddamn household drives a fucking huge ass minibus/truck/Fucking Hummer sized family wagon to work.

The worst part is when they take up so much parking space that the lots next to them are practically unusable because they fuck you, I needed this bigass milonstertruck for casual commotion.

I'd say yes. Yes that's racist.

This is some fucked up shit right here. You have your own STASI now in the USA. Congrats on that, fucking morons. 🤣 HOW could you elect this dude TWICE?! You folks are nuttier than nuts.

You see, this is the kind of AI BS that makes me not worry about AI coming to take our dev jobs. Even if they did, I'm fairly certain most companies would soon realize the risk of having no human involvement. Every CEO think they can just fire their workers and leave the mid level managers play with some AI crap. Yeah, good luck with that. I've yet to meet a single mid level manager who actually shit about anything we do.

Also this is the sort of stuff you should expect when using AI tools. Don't blame anyone else when you wipe your entire hard-drive. You did it. You asked the AI. Now deal with the consequences.

I've never heard of this before but I'll make sure to check it out.
