Mailbox was my choice when I gave up on Gmail. Calendar, contacts and email not tight to a specific client plus only 12 euros a year own me over.
Only thing I don’t love it’s their 2FA. It substitutes your password for a pin+2facode. Kind of weird if you ask me.
OVHcloud is an option, that’s what I migrated to.

I’ve been actively using Le Chat for the past week and it’s really good and fast - at least I don’t see any downgrade for my type of usage.
www.tuxedocomputers.com looks like a great alternative.
If you allow me just an opinion, both of those projects are still amazing projects even if not EU based, that defends free open source and right to repair, so do consider that when making a choice.
If you want to keep using plex and remote it’s important to you, they usually have pretty good deals on pass from time to time. I don’t regret my lifetime pass - I still feel like it’s a pretty solid app and service all things considered- but if I didn’t have the pass already I would be a bit pissed as well ngl.
