Semi-joking, but legitimately the obsolescence of phones that work along with the idea that they need to innovate all the time is my old man complaint. I recognize that no one is forcing me to upgrade, but that doesn't stop them from gently nudging consumption for consumption's sake whenever launching often.

Tldr: genuine kudos to them for not having a yearly phone, but the idea that a 2 year gap is great still frustrates my soul.

This. It probably is a mix of holding onto being "young" while also being "flash frozen" due to the last decade or so of global politics and events.

In all seriousness and sympathy, I'm sorry for your loss. We've got a ~13 y/o white shepherd rescue that we got when she was ~8, and her time with us is definitely winding down. She's been through multiple cancers over her years, 2 of them with us, and she always seems to make a comeback to where I keep on thinking she's going to be here forever, plodding to my side with a big goofy grin. She just recently was diagnosed avisual in her left eye, and her back hips make it hard at times, but she still acts as her loveable self that I don't want to waste the good times we've got left.

Immich has a version of memories, though maybe you have it defined differently?
