I'm on the other side of things. I would much rather pass legislation to make it easier for those that are coming into this country to work to find legal work, meaning they either have an easier time with work visas or they have a better path to naturalization. Punishing farmers (or any industry) rarely punishes those that deserve it. Instead we'll have even more shady practices involving labor, and we'll also see an increase in food costs.

The punishment to the farms should be that people stop buying their products. We can't rely on the government to hand out justice, because that really isn't something they are capable of (as they have proven time and time again). We have to rally together and force these companies to do good or crumble. There has to be a concerted effort from the populace. I understand that may seem impossible, but we are capable of it. Here is an article about recent boycotts that have started to force change in companies: https://www.ethicalconsumer.org/ethicalcampaigns/boycotts/history-successful-boycotts

Unfortunately, it's a slow machine, but it can make a difference. Put pressure on grocery stores that carry items from farms with known labor issues. Contact your local representative about it. Tell your friends and your family. We often make the mistake in thinking that because we know something, everyone else must know it, too, but that isn't the case most of the time. When I tell people about the horrors that Nestle has done, or the fact that Tom Cruise movies fund slavery and torture on a global scale through his close association with Scientology, I often find that people don't know about them. Talk, talk, talk. Don't make yourself into a nuisance, but get some facts together and have them locked and loaded for when the topic comes up.

It's not laziness, it's working conditions. The farms have the golden position. Government subsidies, low overhead for workers, and no one to take action against them because they are illegal. If someone who could actually take action against labor practices on these modern day plantations were to start working there, we'd see a lot more about them in the news. As it stands, it gets looked over because everyone doing the work is brown. Why do you think farms are so quick to jump to the aid of migrant workers when ICE comes around swinging dick? It's not because they actually give a shit about their workers well being.

The foundation slants slightly to the west.

I don't know, maybe I'm just used to being bad, but I'm playing Stellar Blade right now with frame gen (and according to the new Steam overly I'm 60 regular, 60 generated frames for 120 total) and it requires fairly strict timings with parries and dodges and I haven't had any problems. I actually just wiped the floor with 2 bosses on my first attempt.

From the end of the article:

Initially, Corina thought that returning to an office would be like “caging a wild beast”, but it has had an unexpectedly positive impact on her life. “Having to come into an office, I’m forced to be productive … I realised that I’m less efficient when I’m in charge of my own timetable: I stay up late and wake up late, procrastinate, berate myself for being lazy and then end up doing the thing I was supposed to do at 9am at 3am out of last-minute guilt. But now I have structure and, because I’ve only got short, set windows of time in which to get things done, I’m suddenly able to do them.”

That sums it up perfectly. They cherry-picked a group of people that decided to globe hop while staying out all night to drink and then use their hangover as an excuse not to do the work they needed to do. They don't need an office, then need to learn restraint and time management. Their dream wasn't to "work from anywhere on the globe," it was to, "party all night and have no responsibilities." These people, if they are real at all, are fucking scabs. They are fucking it up for the remote workers that are actually able to do their job. Fuck em. Get back into the office, then, you cunts. You deserve it and all the misery it comes with.

I just recently upgraded to a card capable of frame gen. As an above average gamer, I can say that I haven't been taken out of the game yet by any weird shit, and I haven't noticed any input lag. I'm not hardcore by any means, but I think the average player can get on board with frame gen and have a good time.

Cool. I just wanted to make sure my downvote and block was warranted.

Do you have any specific policies you are worried about?

Not sure if you are joking or not, but that's the Manson "family." It's the cult.

Obviously a clerical error. The decimal place is off. It's supposed to be 0.00

They didn't put crack in black neighborhoods for short term profit...

Make it a good one.

I have a Steam Deck, and I love it. It can handle 90% of my library, and it's always improving.

I decided to try out a linux distro for my OS, because the biggest drawback has always been the hoops that I had to jump through to get games up and running. I went for Pop OS, since that seemed to be natively friendly with NVidia, and the lowest barrier for entry. However, in Steam, I see that there is a much more limited selection of games compatible with my system. Is there a way around that, to get the same selection as my Steam Deck? Or is it this way because the Steam Deck is a singular platform that is developed for based on specific architecture?
