I am planning on getting the GTX 5070. Will discuss with my computer pusher tomorrow though. Had asked him for a 4070 but he said they don't make those any more

Either you are a bot or you have nothing to do today, so you keep spamming the same message to any post you see

I am pretty new to Linux (a bit over a year) but to be fair, I haven't really messed with it. Once set up, everything works, so I never really use the terminal. to me, it is just an OS, and i don't mess under the hood with it.

I use Mint (Cinnamon) and I am pretty happy with it. My thoughts now are, with a new PC comming, if I should stick to Mint, or install an other distribution?

I use it mainly as a home desktop, but also do some image editing, video editing, learning CAD at the moment and of course a bit of gaming (through Steam)

Any advice is welcomed

How about the fact that humans live all across the world, even in places where you don't really have lightnings?

Wouldn't we have to compare the number of humans hit by lightning, only in the areas where giraffes live?

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Distribution_of_lightning

The articles only compares to humans in the US... This is very unscientific especially comming from this media!

I guess it's more of a statement against a country that has proclaimed that it won't rule out military force, in order to take a big part of your country

It is! but that's what you get for saying out loud that you can't rule out military force, to take a bite off that country

The option is between balls of ice cream, or softice that comes out like a turd (or both).

I guess the soft ice would be called Trump?

A popular ice-cream shop in Denmark is now looking for a new name for their "American" ice-cream, because it is not as popular as it use to be.

They are also considering selling ice-creams with "no balls", and call it Trump 🍦

I visited a friend who is a professional medical engineer, and watched him work on a 3D design on some software paid for my the university they worked at. The options and features looked very practical!

Although I am not even close to working on so complicated projects, I did love the funtionalities. So now i have decided to put in the effort and learn a decent program, instead of using Tinkercad. I have been very happy with Tinkercad, but some things are only doable with workarounds or very creative methods.

The question is, what software should i start learning?

-FreeCAD
-Fusion 360
-AutoCAD
-Sketchup
-Blender
-LibreCAD
-Something else entirely?

Should i buy this? (lemmy.world)

I am technically challenged, so I am asking for help with this setup

hey guys - can you give me some feedback on this setup?

AMD Ryzen 9950X3D DDR5 ram 16GB (6000mhz) 2TB SSD nvme ASROCK B650M pro RS AM5 4xDDR5 PSU 850W

I count on using my old GTX1070 card on it, until the GPU market settles down a bit.

I like gaming, but also use my PC for image, poster and video editing. Would maybe also like to stream at some point. At the moment i use 2 screens at 1080 but wouldn't mind upgrating those too at some point.

Any thoughts on the actual setup and compatibility to linux?

The guy i am in talks with, in regards to this, has suggested savings by changing the CPU:

9950x (10% lower price)
9900X3D (10% lower price)
9800X3D (17% lower price)
9900x (25% lower price)

What would you suggest?

EDIT: thanks for the help folks! I went with 9900X. Also, it turns out that it has double the RAM. it is 2x16gb. I think it should work alright for me.

It is only at a Beta stage and only available for users with an account

The short Story is, that they only mark the country of the company who sells the products and not the country of origin. So for wxamble, their own peanuts are marked with a star as they are based in EU as a company, but their peanuts can come from the US. Same gores with "California raisins" and other products what recieve the EU mark simply because the company who owns the brand are based in EU.

EDIT: local bookstores have it now. They just hadn't gotten it yet when I was looking for it

I am looking to buy Careless People from within EU. No local bookstores seem to have it (yet) but I would like to get it before it (maybe) gets pulled back. Any suggestions besides Amazon?
