I cannot support an instance where criticism of countries like North Korea or Venezuela is sanctioned with 30 day bans, even defending the Russian invasion of Ukraine is tolerated. I love open source software and it breaks my heart, but I completely blocked .ml after multiple incidents I witnessed or was part of in the news and worldnews communities.

Also I cannot really understand the argument of having an "old account". All it means on Lemmy is having a year and a month in your profile. It is even a good idea to switch your account from time to time to stay more anonymous.

I see your point, I was just reciting the reasons fron the German post someone else linked. I didn't know about the images, and that is indeed a problem. Maybe one of the feddit.org Admins can give us some more info on this?

I think it is due to bad traffic from Asian IPs. The number of IPs that want to access German speaking feddit.org from Malaysia against malicious IPs are in such a high ratio that this is the easiest way for protection. However, you should be able to access feddit.org through any other instance. So if you stay in Malaysia, just use sh.itjust.works, lemm.ee or something similar to browse feddit!

Most of the communities are empty or driven by a single person. I appreciate your efforts, but that:'s not how Lemmy works. Communities grow naturally, one by one. You cannot just create 20 communities and hope everybody is jumping in. We can be very happy we have some active communities such as !europe@feddit.org, that are not hosted on lemmy.world.

Besides natural growth, Lemmy is also about trust. It was not easy for !europe@feddit.org to gain trust back from its users after feddit.de failed, but over time it worked out and feddit.org managed to become a reliable and trusted instance within the lemmyverse.

Who promises us that europe.pub won't go down in a month? Who moderates all these communities once they get bigger, that one posting person?

The ridiculous thing is, digital earnings like the billions from Meta, Google etc. are not getting counted into the trade by Americans. Wonder how the trade deficit would look like if we did that. Apart from that, nobody wants to buy your ugly cars here, they wouldn't even fit to our streets. It's not like you couldn't produce something for the European market, if you wanted. Nobody is interested in something like the Ford F150
