We're clearly not from the same countries, but I think this discussion stems from the recent political actions in the USA. In that instance, yes birthright citizenship is the most common method of citizenship and would have severe consequences by changing the law arbitrarily.

The world's a fucked up place, and birthright citizenship probably isn't the best way to go about things (neither are borders in general but that's a tangent), but I don't think removing rights before a better implementation is in place is the best way to go about things. More people get hurt this way, obviously, and we lose sight of what the actual point of this was. Not to mention it's easy for fascism to take root when you can more easily say who gets to be a citizen.

And what are the benefits of authoritarian rule for its citizens? Given enough time, those rulers will cause harm in any circumstance.

That's because those who followed him all vote by emotion and social pressure. They don't know how to stop, think, and reason for themselves; but they definitely know that trans kids are the reason why the stability of their social security is always in question.

I think equity would be better in all circumstances. Necessities such as food, water, housing, medical needs, and transportation all vary from person to person.

As far as i understand it, equality is a quick and dirty average, but equity addresses individual cases. Equality would be like giving all people the same food rations but equity would be able to factor in dietary restrictions as well as nutrition for different lifestyles.

Kids do dumb things and hopefully learn from their mistakes but I dont think actively planning to shoot up a school is one of those things you can argue as innocuous.

The article doesn't say whether he originally had these thoughts or if it was pressed onto him by his mother. It definitely sounds like he was at the very least encouraged to do extreme violence by his mother and he said himself that he looked up to other shooters and thought he would be famous.

Agreed. We really should have better mental rehabilitative services, especially for youth but who am I kidding with how this country is going.

The article said that the kid had stuff with Nazi and white supremacy symbols and words on it. I'm pretty sure he's not innocent in any of this.
