Great news everyone!
I just made an update to https://vortkom.xn--3s8h30f.ws/ ! ( https://vortkom.xn--3s8h30f.ws/ )
- Due to popular demand, it now has a basic esperanto to english dictionnary with a few components so you can get a feel for how the app works
- Improved loading times! Tested with more than 8400 components in a file and it takes around 20s to import them all (with a new loading bar!), limited the list to 1000 components at most to avoid lags. You can still search the remaining ones! Search is still lightning-fast!
- Automatic detection of the x-system and switches to accents as you type!
- Can now edit and delete components straight from the search bar!

Enjoy and please give me some feedback!!

@InfiniteFlow Ho, kiujn estas en la angla? Mi pensis ĉiujn estis en la esperanta!
Kaj pri la vortaron, ankoraŭ ne, sed baldaŭ!

(Sorry if this has errors, as I said I'm still learning!!)

Finally public! My new #opensource web-app to learn #esperanto!
Words in Esperanto are a bit like lego bricks! Put components that mean different things together to make a word!
So why not use that to learn new words?
Add your own word components to build your personal dictionary (eg. "Malgrandaj" -> "Mal" (the opposite of), "grand" (big), "a" (Word is an adjective), "j" (Word is plural))
So if you have a good enough dictionary, you can infer the meaning of words by just looking at how they are build which is in my opinion the best way to learn!
Some cool features include :
- Import and export your dictionary as a file
- Smart search, will automatically find if it's a component or a word you're looking for!
- Install it as an app to be able to use #offline !
- Optimized to hold and work with large amounts of data! (For fast search)
Try now and give me some feedback!

(In english because targeted for learners (and I'm still one!))

@ShellMonkey Be careful, obfuscation isn't encryption!
And no, there doesn't need to be a publicly shared token! Take a look at how simplexchat does it!

@ShellMonkey That's true, but these should also be encrypted, don't you think?
Sure the messages could still be encrypted but from the metadata you can most of the time infer the content.

It's a bit long, but you can read this if you're interested
https://www.pnas.org/doi/full/10.1073/pnas.1508081113

The European Comission is looking for feedback on forcing retention of metadata from all communication services for "a reasonable period of time", for purposes of criminal investigation!

Which means encrypted messaging without a backdoor would be illegal if this passes! That's a slippery slope!

That basically means an attacker with some skill could read any data from anyone (correct me if I'm wrong but I think you can infer the content from the metadata in 90% of cases)

For more detail on why it's bad, click the link below and read literally any feedback comment.

Go ahead and give some feedback! You can do so even if you are not an EU citizen!

@MrFloppy I agree! I sometimes received notifications on Mastodon from comments by Lemmy accounts on this post but far from with all comments (~10%) and sometimes my replies on Mastodon didn't carry over to Lemmy (I don't even know if this one will!) so there's still work to be done to get things working just right!

@Binette Awesome, glad you like it!!

@Skiluros Heading URL is the 1st line of your mastodon post.
You can join an image to your mastodon comment and it will show on lemmy (a new post will just show the link to the post)
For URL and thumbnail I don't think you can.

@Berin
Here's how yours look for me.
Notice how it says 0 message on top, but can still see your posts?

Maybe you need to follow someone from the remote instance so they know each other and can federate. That's just a guess.

@Skiluros What do you mean by sync exactly?

@fediverse Have you ever wondered how Lemmy and Mastodon federate?

Well, I made a few tests and put it all in an easy to read table! Take a look!

Some things may be wrong or missing but if you notice that, tell me and I'll update it!

(Yeah! I'm even posting this from Mastodon! How cool is that?)

Try Platoon on the NES, you get bombarded by ennemies while you have to find your way through this abomination of a maze!
