Meanwhile most Americans who are forced to work full time with no paid vacation or healthcare instead go off and say, "I don't pay attention to politics, it's depressing. I'm just gonna work on myself," as they accept never being able to afford their dream vacation, their own home, or that new truck they desperately need.

Did peaceful protest and peaceful organizing stop fascism last time in your country? And you say I live in a fantasy, while spitting on the millions who died to prevent a fascist (from your country no less) by saying that "peaceful protest/organizing" is somehow less fantastical solution to that problem. Have you no shame, or humility for history, let alone your own country?

Change needs to be cultural. So long as we live in our current cultural distinctions of "mine and thine" instead of some sort of collaborative being then this will keep on happening.
