This really seems like a win, both for free speech and football.

I've had Giesswein shoes for a while now and can't recommend them highly enough. They manage to combine the comfort of sneakers and the warmth of boots (during winter months) while remaining light and airy (for the summer months).

Great to see the entire team coming together to make sure one individual's mistake can be fixed. This is what team sports is about (among other things)

It's still not decided if Southampton will break Derby's old (negative) record, but I agree that team looked decidedly worse on the pitch. Southampton at least can claim that they had bad luck here or there.

As for first tier football I was only able to find FK Čukarički Stankom from Serbia, who went an entire season without winning even once. They might consider starting a league with Brechin City so at least one team can win.

Southampton being relegated has felt like a foregone conclusion for months at this point. They feel completely out of their depth in the Premier League and could perhaps even be considered among the worst teams ever.

A lot of players deciding about their future right now, at least that is how it feels. Thomas Müller is one of the increasingly rare breed of old school players that look out of place on a modern football pitch but who has won essentially everything, including a world cup and the Champions League. I would really wish for him to remain a one club man, since I really can't see him playing a season or two in the shirt of, say, Stuttgart or Gladbach.

Ik vind ze allemaal mooi.

Ik hou echt van Mondriaan. Het past echt bij een Nederlandstalige community.

It feels like this was a long time coming. Let's see what, if any, club side he decides to play for. Maybe he could even return to Belgium for a final chapter in his career as a player, similar to Vincent Kompany.

Well, I will always remember him for the goal against France in the 2014 World Cup. Such a tense match between two strong sides, decided in the most German way possible: a header by a defender.

I realise that Google places ads in the native Gmail environment. However, when using a third party front end to embed the Google services, how does the company make money off that? When I use Thunderbird to access Gmail or the Google Calendar or when I map my Google Drive to the file explorer, how can Google profit from this kind of use?

Although it's not Friday yet, we made this simple yet delicious fish.

Ingredients:

  • 1 kg floury potatoes
  • 800 g carrots & mangetout
  • 520 g fresh cod fillets
  • 75 g breadcrumbs
  • 2 medium sized free range eggs
  • 2 tbsp wheat flour
  • 2 tbsp (olive) oil
  • 30 g fresh parsley
  • 25 g unsalted butter
  • 150 ml semi-skimmed milk
  • 0.5 tsp dried nutmeg

Directions:

Peel the potatoes, cut into equal pieces and cook them in plenty of water with salt, if necessary, for 20 min until tender. Meanwhile, cook the carrots for 8 min. During the last 2 min, add the snow peas. Drain in a colander and rinse briefly under cold running water.

Cut the cod fillet into 4 pieces. Put the breadcrumbs in a deep dish. Beat the eggs in a second plate.

Sprinkle the cod fillets with the flour, pepper and salt. Pass the cod through the egg and breadcrumbs successively.

Heat the oil in a non-stick frying pan and fry the cod fillets in 8-10 min. until golden brown. Turn halfway through.

Finely chop the parsley. Drain the potatoes. Add the butter, milk, parsley and nutmeg and mash with the masher to a coarse puree. Season with pepper and salt, if necessary. Divide the cod fillet with the parsley puree and vegetables among the plates.

Met deze ontwikkeling zou het Nederlandse leger evenveel personeel hebben als in de jaren tachtig.

This recipe has become one of my personal favourites. It's quick and easy to prepare, yet also delicious and healthy. What's not to like?

Ingredients:

  • 2 red onions
  • 4 tbsp white vinegar
  • 1 cucumber
  • 4 tomatoes
  • 3 tbsp mild olive oil
  • 200 g falafel
  • 8 tortilla wraps
  • 200 g spicy hummus
  • 75 g julienne carrots

Directions:

Slice the onions into wafer-thin rings and place in a heatproof bowl.

Bring the vinegar to a boil in a small saucepan, pour over the onion, season with pepper, stir and leave until ready to use. Halve the cucumber lengthwise, remove the seeds with a teaspoon.

Halve the halves widthwise and slice the pieces lengthwise into thin slices. Slice the tomatoes into 1cm slices.

Heat the oil in a frying pan over medium heat and fry the falafel for 5 min. Turn halfway through.

Heat the tortilla wraps according to the instructions on the packaging. Spread the wraps with the hummus and divide the carrot julienne, tomato, cucumber, falafel and pickled onion over them.

Fold the sides of the wraps inwards and roll the wraps up from bottom to top. Halve diagonally and divide the wraps over plates.

PVV nog steeds de sterkste partij, maar gedaald naar 30 zetels. De partijen uit het politieke midden winnen allemaal zetels. NSC en BBB nauwelijks nog relevant.

While I find the wiki-style site for European alternatives ( https://www.goeuropean.org/ ) very helpful and have started using it fairly regularly, I feel like it misses an option to just look up a brand or company and easily find out where it's from. Maybe that is already an option and I haven't found it. If so, please point me in that direction.

If not, what I would hope for, is a quick and simple place to check if a given brand or company is perhaps American owned (or more generally where it's profit ultimately goes). For example, I seriously doubt my mother in law would be able to know that Toblerone is an American owned brand. The current wiki pre-supposes that users already know this.

The average EU citizen is in his mid 40s and likely not all that tech savvy. Purchasing power skews towards older folks anyway, so it should be a goal to get this demographic on board. Does anyone have a starting off point where one can easily find the information on a specific company or brand on the go? Could something like this be added to the current site ( https://www.goeuropean.org/ )?

We made this yesterday and it was a great success with our daughter. It's really easy to make, if you have access to store bought Spaetzle. If you don't, there are numerous recipes to make them yourself

Ingredients:

  • 2 onions
  • 1 clove of garlic
  • 400 g cherry tomatoes
  • 100 g baby spinach
  • 500 g of Spätzle
  • Salt
  • 4 tbsp olive oil
  • Pepper
  • 0.5 tbsp sugar
  • 200 g sour cream
  • 30 g Parmesan (grated)

Directions:

Peel the onions, halve them and cut them into strips. Peel the garlic and cut them into slices. Wash and halve the tomatoes. Wash the spinach and shake dry. Prepare the spaetzle in hot salted water according to the instructions on the packet. Meanwhile, heat the oil in a large pan. Fry the onions and garlic until translucent, add 300 g of the tomatoes and fry briefly. Season with salt, pepper and sugar. Stir in the sour cream and Parmesan. Drain the spaetzle, let it drain and mix it with the spinach into the tomatoes. Allow the spinach to wilt slightly. Season with salt and pepper and serve sprinkled with the remaining tomatoes.
