Democrats largely avoided identity politics in the last election, especially for Harris/Waltz campaign - whereas the MAGA and Republican camp was full of identity politic attacks on 'critical race theory', 'wokeism', 'antifa', 'DEI', 'woke liberals' and 'leftists' (each of which are undefinable terms to Republicans anyway). Results: they lost, and they still get idiotic posts like this one complaining that they identity-politicsed too hard.

If you have specific examples of identity politics where you think Democrats went too far and lost their audience then by all means, share them - but I'm confident this is just the echoed opinion of some talking head.

Curious how a dumb statement claiming that the the last Democratic admin's policies were targetted towards only marginalised groups and somehow ignoring the rest of lower income classes and middle class would go.

It'll go down like it is right now - lots of people pointing out how dumb it is.

Not sure if you're being sarcastic but boats splitting in half is not uncommon, as far as boat structural failures go it's a relatively common one.

Stats on such a thing are unavailable but there are many news articles regarding boats splitting in half. I'd hope the safety factor on a fission reactor is several orders of magnitude higher than a seafaring vessel.

So, uh. What about Lemmy?

They can also crawl this publically-accessible social media source for their data sets.

I'm on board with abandoning mainstream social media, but my point is that your suggestion would not solve the problem just relocate it. A better solution to the AI conglomerates stealing everyone's data from the open Internet is legislation and regulations - ie tackling the whole 'stealing data' component, along with stronger privacy regulations for everyone to make it harder for them to do the same in the future. It's nice seeing the EU taking some positive steps, but we will not see the US take any steps in that direction anytime soon, due to corporate capture of their politicians and the AI companies all being in the top 10 most wealthy companies in the US.

Nope sorry, corporations can only be 'people' legally if it endows all of the benefits but none of the risks.

I'm told this is a cornerstone of capitalism.

Far right wing government, a president (PM in their case) that has multiple credible cases of corruption against him and is holding onto power desperately to try to avoid prosecution.

Sound familiar?

Whoever did it should also immediately dispose of their ICE=KKK stencil and realize that a using a stencil is a really stupid way to get caught.

Nah. The image screenshot is asking 'where is his suit' and OP is referring to it also. The fact you wanna go off on everyone about a tangential issue and say they're missing the point is some cool irony though.

Also, casus belli is an act or event used to justify a war - that's not happened here, this is rhetoric only. You are probably thinking of jus ad bellum.

Backdrop of military folk also because this press conference (to the several embedded press people they dragged along for the event) was held at the US military base on Greenland - because they were not invited to visit any other part of Greenland.

So, they had literally nobody else who could be in the background of the shot except reporters and US base personnel.

Both Denmark and Greenland governments responded by saying they view this as an escalation and that Vance had better watch his tone. I think they should start talking about cancelling the renewal date of the land lease for the US base (doesn't matter if the date is far in the future, just telling them they're risking expulsion is enough).

Who said Vance believes this? Most comments on this post are implying or outright stating that Greenland actually needs protection from the USA, not any other boogeyman. You're arguing against a strawman.

The context of this post is not even about the statements from Vance anyway, it's about pointing out the constant hypocrisy - Vance was just complaining about Zelensky not wearing a suit and heres Vance, wearing casual clothing at an official international press statement.

But hey, your shouting, insulting and complaining at the whole Lemmy community is really helping get across your point that everyone already understood anyway. iamverysmart energy.

They owned it ever since Elon bought it, why do you think Elon was hanging out at the soccer world cup with Kushner and a bunch of high profile Saudi royals shortly before the purchase. They're backers.

He just announced four days ago that they're going to launch Tesla dealerships and have a big launch party April 10th in Saudi for the first time ever. Not because SA need or want them (they buy very few EVs as their domestic petrol prices are very cheap), but because they're stepping up to help his company during its current global dire sales downturn.

They've been close allies with Elon for a long time.

I think this citation on Wikipedia pinpoints the turning point. Yet another thing ruined by conservative McCarthyism?

Russell, Dean (1955). "Who is a libertarian?". Foundation for Economic Education. Archived from the original on 28 November 2019. Retrieved 28 November 2019.

Many of us call ourselves 'liberals.' And it is true that the word 'liberal' once described persons who respected the individual and feared the use of mass compulsions. But the leftists have now corrupted that once-proud term to identify themselves and their program of more government ownership of property and more controls over persons. As a result, those of us who believe in freedom must explain that when we call ourselves liberals, we mean liberals in the uncorrupted classical sense. At best, this is awkward and subject to misunderstanding. Here is a suggestion: Let those of us who love liberty trade-mark and reserve for our own use the good and honorable word 'libertarian'.
