Exactly, I went for my PhD because of interest in science and my subject. Never really wanted a job in academia and I am happily employed in the private sector now. We should return to praising science and knowledge for its own sake (and the betterment of mankind) rather than seeing it only as a means to a better paycheck and/or corporate profit.

It might be nostalgia speaking, but I think the real issue is that a 20 year old game can actually be this good and popular. How can it be that it is more enjoyable than anything else I’ve bought over the last year (at least)? Doesn’t that say that game companies in general have dropped the ball on game design, focusing on graphics and money over content and gameplay? As I said, it might just be me stuck in my wonderfully comforting blanket of nostalgia…

Hmmm, my country is “white”, I thought it had recognized Palestine years ago. Guess it’s time to do some research and possibly consider another parameter in the next elections…

Valid, just wonderkind: is personal safety (being an ICE target) in the equation?

I suppose switching back to a card wouldn’t be a total disaster, but it wouldn’t improve privacy unfortunately. My banks debit cards use vpay anyway (and as far as I know all of them use either vpay or maestro) so US companies will know about all our payments either way…

Does e-os support mobile payments yet?

A Big-tech free phone os sounds really appealing, but for me, a lack of mobile payment would be a reason to seriously consider sticking with ios when my current phone needs replacement.

But who has an RSS reader (app) these days? Everyone has a web browser. Still an RSS feed would be a lot better than anything controlled by a commercial party, X, Facebook, whatever…

I think no government should depend on any commercial platform to communicate with its citizens. As low tech as possible and workable would be best I suppose, so maybe just a website? Mastodon could work too I guess.
