the cloth attracts it because of the capillary action pulling water into the gaps therein, and capillary action relies on surface tension! i think without outside forces like suction, the liquid in this scenario would never flow against gravity.

i think hahah

oils have low surface tension, i believe a true no-surface tension liquid is as impossible as a true frictionless surface.

i didn’t consider friction though! i think the rag would still dry out completely pretty quick, but you might have a few seconds while the water falls out depending on how tight the mesh is?

i dunno, this is a real whacky thing to think about!

i think without surface tension it would also just fall out of the cloth as soon as you lift it, because nothing would wick against gravity. in fact of your floor is pourous at all, i reckon the water would just immediately all flow further down and you’d be left with a dry floor.

i bought a beret when gorillaz did the g-foot merch and was so nervous to wear it in public, but literally the first time i did i got a compliment!

that one compliment not only directly led to me making WAY wackier choices with my clothes and jewelry, but now i also compliment strangers a lot.

every time i learn something new about you it’s so on-brand

man THAT’S why that happens!

i love sky burials! but yeah, short of dying IN tibet it’s hard to swing.

after a little searching i found out there aren’t any human body farms in the uk either, but y’all do have a fascinating history of open air pyres. apparently they’re tentatively legal!

what do you think happens when we die?

[–] yuri@pawb.social 5 points 1 week ago (1 children)

it must taste amazing if they have to boobytrap it

i just keep the one repaired tho

meanwhile i wish there was a slider that made the characters MORE chatty, the dynamic interactions are really charming to me! but i also specifically love how cliché they’re written, so can see how it’s not for everybody haha

JUST for hot deposit, yeh. the rest of the inventory/hotbar management always makes me wish i was playing something else.

the hotbar not being inventory space is fine, but tools disappearing because they’re in your hand is absurd. they really just added a “looking for the tv remote that i’m already holding” mechanic. the pinning system with filters is handy for food, but feels clunky outside that one usecase.

like they went with a realistic “the forest” style building system, and then the inventory management is the most videogamey shit in the world.

also the scroll wheel swapping hotbars by default is straight up whacky, i’ve heard the whole thing makes more sense on controller lmao
