The more time passes, the more I started to see the flaws in Lemmy design and development which will prevent it from being something meaningful.

Which lead me to ask, is there is any worthy alternative to Reddit?

  • I tried HackerNews , but it does not seem very fit.
  • Tildes seem to have way more problems than Reddit, development and moderation.
  • Saidit seems to be almost dead and have zero active Android clients.
  • Discuit used to have a potential, but they are stuck in toxic positivity phase and the admins does not seem to understand how to moderate and it seems that they will have the same fate as Ruqqis.

Anything else?

Something big is happening, as Reddit seems to have purged literally every NSFW sub they know. Reason is always "unmoderated" despite some of the banned subreddits being fully moderated.

Edit: seems to have been a bug in automation (thanks @lefty7283@lemmy.world):

It's still a good reminder on how quickly a community (or communities) thousands of people enjoy and in some cases rely upon can disappear.

Has this ever happened before? I don't think I've ever seen Reddit "temporarily" ban a subredit like this.

I’ve been permabanned from Reddit for harassment. I was fucking with some guys that liked anime in a non anime subreddit, I simply called them Chinese cartoons and they got mad, bigly. Anyways I trolled too much using that account so apparently they figured it was better to cut me off the website entirely. I would like to use Reddit still, but every account gets banned as soon as I make it. It tells me I can appeal but I can’t actually because that was more than a year ago.

If I delete that account and all associated accounts, and make new account not associated with them (new email), will it get banned too? I know reddit bans are not just IP bans but also use device ID and all that shit. Will I have to buy a new computer exclusively for Reddit? Or does my device becomes unflagged the moment I delete the banned account?

I need help with this shit. I like lemmy but there’s just not enough people here.

You should use archive.org or archive.today links.

The best way to influence the Domain Authority metric is to improve your site’s overall SEO health, with a particular focus on the quality and quantity of external links pointing to your site.

You can use the Wayback machine addon to easily get archived links https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/wayback-machine_new/.

And a bookmarklet for archive.today:

javascript:void(open('https://archive.today/?run=1&url='+encodeURIComponent(document.location)))

FYI, if you’re worried about archive.today going down and references being lost, you can manually leave in the original URL by adding https://archive.ph/o/ in front of any URL, after you archive it. IE: https://archive.ph/o/https://sh.itjust.works/post/26060585 will redirect to the archived page, if it exists.

Stumbled on this while researching tablet PCs and clicking on a Reddit "post" from Google results. I take no pride in any part of that sentence.

Revanced & being a mod doesn't seem to matter anymore.

I can still view the front page but no comments, profile, individual subreddits, etcetera now.

This is the same for me on both Sync and Boost.

Surely, I can't be the only one.

Combined with their recent shenanigans with old.reddit.com I'm finally feeling more ready to just let it go finally because there is no freaking way I'm going to use new or their crummy ad_riddled app.

Recently on Reddit there are memes after memes on election. Specifically, rather pro-Israel "No vote for Biden is vote for Trump!" If you open, you see a bunch of same-minded people complaining about anti-Bibi protestors.

It's so everywhere I can't see Reddit without seeing such posts.

I can like threadiverse better just for this. I don't have to see the same tiring meme everywhere thanks to having no political campaigning and no forced promotion of posts into my feed.

It now redirects you to the new site login page. There's no way to sign up with out an email anymore(?) It was only possible on the old site.

this user seems to be a mix of a chatgpt bot and a real person. Notice how soo many of their posts are these long overly formal\affectionate replies with a link to specific products. The products are amazon links (probably referal links) and all the amazon links are hidden behind a redirect by using tastechocolate.co.uk with a specific link page per product so they don't get hidden by the auto mod. I'm guessing tastechocolate.co.uk is owned by the bot farm\user? A lot of the links are also to zoopy.com via zoopy.link which are probably also owned by the bot farm\user to generate ad revenue and affiliate\referral money.
