No doubt Microsoft bribed the right people to achieve this outcome

I doubt it. Knowing the Danish government it is a combination of this project being slightly more expensive than Microslop, combined with that cost not translating into enough political goodwill from the voters (Danish voters are largely very ignorant or at the very least indifferent to questions of open source, digital privacy and all that stuff).

Remember a time when politics and media did an actual job in explaining context? Something like "selling our private data to and making us dependent on companies in a country threatening to annex Greenland is insanely stupid"...

    Follow the money.

Microsoft acquired Danish company Navision some years ago (the product is AFAIK called Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central these days). The main development center for the product(s) are still in Denmark, making the Danish govt. well disposed towards Microsoft products even despite US threats of war, MS sanctioning ICC personnel etc.

That's not particularly related to MS Office though. More people using Office doesn't translate to more sales for Microsoft New ERP Name #13273 (they've bought and merged or killed so many...), kinda stupid to stay on Office just for that.
