Gas never got that expensive here when Biden was president. Also everything else wasn't as expensive while he was president either.

Paying more and more for the same stuff sucks, but it's hardly in the top 10 real problems right now.

MAGA likes to say that gas was $5 under Biden, but that's not true. Maybe it reached that for a brief time, right after COVID, but not in my area. The most I ever paid was $3.99, and it was a bit of a point of pride that I had never paid more than $4. And those prices were rebound profit-gouging by gas companies.

Now I pay over $4 routinely, and it is DIRECTLY attributable to Trump's stupid war.

Everything is Trump's fault. Literally EVERYTHING.

I'm not gonna complain about you but I'm gonna complain here because it's relevant.

The whole "gas under Biden" thing goes to show how fucking stupid people are. It fundamentally misses what's going on here. Gas was expensive in Biden era because of COVID (essentially a natural disaster) massively disrupting the global logistics network. Gas is expensive now because Donnie likes to bomb brown people. Equating the two is fundamentally stupid, and even the statement "its more expensive now than under Biden" while made in good faith is normalizing the idea that Biden caused COVID price disruptions?? When in reality Trump was the "take no action" guy who let it fester????

This pisses me the fuck off.

    Agreed with all that.

Biden was being blamed for the gas prices when I didn't see a good reason to blame him for them. Either way for me the prices are worse and have been worse for much longer now, and we have every reason to blame trump and his administration. I can guarantee he and his petroleum industry friends are making big profits right now, that's how it works. Oil is more expensive so they increase prices to compensate, but they also increase prices even more for extra profit.

I mean he literally just said in a rally yesterday "I don't care about high gas prices, our oil companies are making a ton of money". Let me see if I can find a quote.

Honestly, more like "I'm ok with that because the 3 trans athletes in this country are gonna be banned from public bathrooms"

Specifically, it's more like "I'm okay with that cuz I secretly hate my black/brown/yellow neighbors and wish I could kill em but dem state laws won't let me so I voted for Trump so he can use his ICEstapo to kill 'em. Now where the hell's that guy who was supposed to fix up mah roof?"

Not really. The primary factor was Russia's invasion of Ukraine, which isn't something Biden has control over

It was a variety of things tbh, but generally they were all out of anyone's direct control.

Russia/OPEC price war, massive fluctuations in US VIX, supply shocks after the crude oil price inversion of 2020, sanctions after Russian invasion of Ukraine, logistics and distribution disruption... all contributed.

US national average hit an all-time peak in 2022, but it was brief: https://www.gasbuddy.com/charts

It doesn't matter though. Biden has no control over Putin's decision to invade Ukraine. Trump claimed he wouldn't have let it happen and that he would end the war day 1 of his second presidency. Obviously that was a lie, but now we can prove it

Trump did have control over gas prices here, because he's the one who chose to start a war with Iran. Especially dumb while there are ongoing supply disruptions due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine

This and they use a national average. I get they need some sort of yardstick, but I never saw prices this high under Biden. I’d be really curious to see what State actions have been taken under both administrations to modulate energy costs, especially those at the pump, that are affecting numbers. 100% agree that everything else on top of energy prices is a squeeze this country has never really felt before.
