Andy Yen's values are incompatible with Proton's mission. He advocates for poor security practices, supports fascists, and he verbally abuses his subordinates. As such, I can no longer in good conscience continue to financially support a company with such terrible leadership.

Unfortunately for me, my subscription just renewed last month on a multi year plan, but it does give me time to browse for and experiment with alternatives.

If you're able, I encourage you to do the same and cite Andy Yen as the driving factor for your decision. We can't let these tech bro fascists destroy what little semblance of privacy we have left.

Don't read anything about Mullvad's CEO then, I guess.

Many of the articles are in Swedish, so are subject to translation errors , but: It seems to mostly center around one of the co-CEO's personal donations to recent populist party that has hardline views regarding immigration. The other co-CEO spoke out against the donation but as it wasn't tied to the company there's likely not much more to be done there.

Absent a particular stance on such from Örebropartiet, I don't see how this is impactful to the nature of privacy under VPN's, and IMO is different from a CEO or founder fawning over a government that's actively creating a surveillance-state.
