I think this captures the essence of "Punk Mickey Mouse" that Sonic originally was supposed to have.

I think it fits more than the skater bro we got in the late 90s/2000s or the quippy Marvel hero we have now. Plus he actually looks like a hedgehog.

This slightly beefy version makes me think of Hazard, one of Overwatch's newer characters. He's a tank with a tortoise shell that shoots spikes. He's scottish and the only character in the lore with a completely clear and stated ideology, anarchist.
