Why is she asking for an ice cream when she's behind the counter?

It clearly shows one of the supports for the glass partition that runs along the counter between the ladies and the ice cream. Admittedly, the artist could've made it clearer, but you try drawing something see through and get it perfect.

I'm trying to follow you and falling miserably. I can't get over the diagonal support in the foreground, that indicates to me there's a 45% angle pane of glass on the side of the viewer, aka she's on the employee side. The beam that goes along the counter I just see as the edge of the ice cream trays.

The support is on the worker side, i.e. our side

Glancing at some of their other comics it looks like the one with the green hair is a side character appearing as an employee at not-chick-fil-a, and I don't see the brown haired character in any other comics, so it's possible they might be employees in this comic? It looks like most of the comics are 4 panels long, so there might be some context we're missing for why the employee is ordering ice cream

Yeah but if she moved over to the customers' side she would have better accessibility
