looks up from steam deck

wait what?

[–] hanrahan@slrpnk.net 27 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Exactly why I'm going Steam Deck

[–] kratoz29@lemm.ee 2 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Exactly my thoughts, but I am waiting for the Steam Deck 2... Or something more future proof (that would be my 1st gaming handheld stronger than my overclocked hacked Nintendo Switch v1).

[–] LordKitsuna@lemmy.world 4 points 1 week ago

Probably still a ways off. They said they didn't want to do a 2 until there was a substantial upgrade available.... And while the latest amd apu IS better, its not the leap and bound they say they are looking for so likely not yet in any type of production

PC gaming just need a solid Mario Kart alternative and every other genre are covered.

[–] bizzle@lemmy.world 15 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Super Tux Kart is pretty decent tbh

[–] Croquette@sh.itjust.works 6 points 1 week ago

I'll have to revisit it. It changed a lot since I last played.

Keep an eye on Sonic Racing: Crossworlds.

[–] umbrella@lemmy.ml 16 points 1 week ago

and the upcoming switch 2 emulator

Every Mario Kart except World is playable on PC...but of course the online is far more limited since the pool of players is much, much smaller.

But we already have SuperTuxKart

[–] jsomae@lemmy.ml 5 points 1 week ago

I've been enjoying Dr Robotnik's Ring Racers. However, it's rather technical compared to mario kart, so I would recommend against using the cheat-code to skip the tutorial.

[–] Zahille7@lemmy.world 5 points 1 week ago (2 children)

PC has literally every other kart racer in existence though.

[–] xan1242@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 1 week ago

Except for CTR Nitro Fueled. I'm still annoyed that there's no PC port of it.

[–] Croquette@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Yeah but for whatever reason, the Mario Kart format is exclusively on Nintendo.

On the PS3, ModNation Racer was so much fun, so I just hope that one day we get something like that on PC

[–] Zahille7@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago

I remember playing that on my PSP

[–] oplkill@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago

i wish for hugo biccazoo 2

Looks up from one of my hacked switches which are not banned

Heh, someone (the banned person) wasn't paying attention.

[–] hanrahan@slrpnk.net 6 points 1 week ago

This is the way

[–] Korhaka@sopuli.xyz 6 points 1 week ago

Pretty sure Valve encourage people to do fun things with their steam deck. You want to run some custom OS on it? Go ahead!
