President Donald Trump is lashing out at his own supporters as he tries to clamp down on criticism over his administration’s handling of much-hyped records in the Jeffrey Epstein sex trafficking investigation, which Trump now calls a “Hoax.”

“Their new SCAM is what we will forever call the Jeffrey Epstein Hoax, and my PAST supporters have bought into this “bull——,” hook, line, and sinker,” Trump wrote Wednesday on his Truth Social site, using an expletive in his post. “They haven’t learned their lesson, and probably never will, even after being conned by the Lunatic Left for 8 long years.”

“Let these weaklings continue forward and do the Democrats work, don’t even think about talking of our incredible and unprecedented success, because I don’t want their support anymore! Thank you for your attention to this matter,” he went on.

Calls his supporters "weaklings". Bold move, let's see how that works out...

His supporters love abuse. They will change to fit his vision.

[–] notabot@piefed.social 7 points 1 day ago

I don't think it's abuse they love exectly, it's being told exactly what to think and how to act. It removes a huge amount of cognative load and uncertainty and leaves them feeling more sure of themselves.

Every one of those supporters is sitting there thinking "he means everybody but me!"

It could create a situation where a supporter doesn't want to be weak, so they completely shift their stance - almost denying their previous stance. I just threw some popcorn in the microwave for the upcoming show...

Reminder from Veritaseum not to eat microwave popcorn unless your body needs more PFAs

I'm hoping PFAS have a preserving quality that will keep my skin wrinkle free long after death.

[–] pelespirit@sh.itjust.works 6 points 1 day ago (1 children)

You don't have to buy popcorn like that, you can just stick some bulk popcorn in a brown paper bag. No PFAs in that.

[–] theunknownmuncher@lemmy.world 5 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Right??? I don't understand buying it prepackaged when it is so much cheaper and takes 2 second to put some popcorn in a bag yourself.

[–] Corkyskog@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 day ago

I was today's year old when I learned that was possible. I just use the whirlypop thing.

[–] dhork@lemmy.world 9 points 1 day ago

I keep reminding people that if he holds on to power past the end of his term, he won't need votes to do it. So his supporters are no longer useful to him.

[–] 1D10@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago

He doesn't care. If he can't get reelected he doesn't really want another republican to get the office. That way he can always say " look how everything fell apart after me"

They're clearly all masochists so it'll probably work well.
