"Sin" is heavily religiously connotated. Any definition that does not include that context misses an important part.
Okay, incorporate that into a definition without showing favoritism to any one religion.
The central idea behind sin in all religions is what I said - acting against your own interest, i.e., what God wants for you
But what if what said god wants for me is against my own interest?
