It seems to be a matter of time before VPN crackdowns come to our shores.

The overwhelming majority of voters have zero concept of how open internet works, so they'll gobble up what they're told and will be in favour of losing their liberties.

And easily circumvented with purchasing a VPS overseas and connecting directly to it, or routing all traffic through it.

Essentially your own private VPN

Also, banning VPNs means pretty much every company would be breaking the law.

All you need is the torrent link, can easily be obtained through tor browser.
