I still do not understand the mutilation aspect of it. It is a practice which is common in certain cultures and religions. I did not have my children circumcised, not that I even thought about it, but I don't see how the practice has to be condemned in any way.
It removes a piece of skin from the body, sure. I would not equate that to taking away somebody's arm. People live their life happily without problems if they are circumcised.
I guess maybe sexual pleasure may be affected? I do not know. I have met plenty people who were circumcised and they never complained about that. After all the nice part in having sex is the connection with the other person.
Regarding the fact that it is protective, sure it is. But I doubt that kind of protection is really needed nowadays when we wear underwear, trousers and have shower almost every day.
Not that I appreciate the practice itself: I don't really see the point; but I also see no reason to condemn it.
Do many circumcised persons want to revert the operation? I have never heard about that.
