How to stop your TV from being used against you:

  1. Never tell it your wifi password.

There are no further steps.

Seriously. You don't need the 'smart' features, and no TV manufacturer is going to pay for a cell data connection in order to connect it without your wifi.

    You should read the article. Many tvs still take advantage of seemingly harmless protocols when connected to a device that's connected to the internet to still track you, even when never connected themselves.

    I can only assume this worked for me

    I had a lot of trouble with Google and tuning on a Sony TV. Disconnected and used the native os tuner, no dramas since

    I do like the idea of a commercial or hospital model though
