Is there any location that is happy about their data center? I haven't read any article about a community realising the benefits yet

    I spent a few minutes searching, but yeah, I don’t see many stories of actual places. A lot is industry white papers about “how could they be beneficial for you?!”

    CNN ran some story, but it’s pay-walled, and I don’t know how to remove those. https://www.cnn.com/2026/08/11/business/data-centers-ai-economy

    I’ve heard consistently more stories about the problems from real people living near them, plus the horror stories online like Meta sludge run-off.
