Stray performance issues on Linux mint laptop (lemmy.ca)

Last time I tried to play Stray on Linux Mint on my laptop while connected to 4k TV, I ran into severe degradation unrelated to thermal throttling. I had to tweak the resolution down a lot and even the graphics. I recently went back to using Windows on the laptop because of an unrelated network speed unreliability problem on Mint, and when I tried Stray, there were no issues. Before this, I had even installed Stray on my gaming PC to stream from the laptop because of how laggy the performance was.

Specs

RTX 3080-Ti Laptop AMD Ryzen 9 6900 HX Linux Mint latest 16GB RAM

EDIT:

Okay so I suspected it was thermal throttling, even though I have a cooling fan. Turns out not using a cooling fan is better than using a cooling fan at the lowest setting. At the highest setting, the cooling fan is too loud but the game performs still slightly worse than on Windows.

I mean you took a reasonable suggestion as toxicity, ok 🤷. Your suggestion to switch to Windows instead is also valid. To use Linux means you're willing to put up with relatively new issues. One issue being the choice of your "final" distro. But if that's too much then yeah, there's no shame with switching back to Windows.

    What a broken mindset when Mint is literally glazed as being usable.

    "relatively new issues." LOLOL. Yeah please keep coming up with excuses for how Mint wasn't responsible for bricking the NTFS file system (last updated 2001) of my hard drive (2022) after just a few months of using the drive with Mint when it was working fine with Windows for almost 4 years.

    Yeah imagine lacking the self-awareness that you think normal people talk like this in real life. If you think being passive aggressive by default is normal, then you're either anti-social or mentally deficient.

    Of course it's too much when Mint not only can't be used for couch gaming but it also can't be used for HTPC since it bricks an NTFS hard drive. Oh wait, don't tell me you're now going to victim blame and say how I should've reformatted the drive when I decided to daily drive Mint as an HTPC.

    I already daily drive Fedora KDE on my PC; I don't need someone being condensing and passive-agressive just because I dared insult Mint for being worse than Windows 11.
