me (1999): I just want 1GB of ram and 1TB of hard drive, I can't see a world where more than that would be necessary.

We were ripping DVD's to 200mb divx at the time and an OTA cartoon might only be 25mb because SD+compression.

    Yeah, some anime are now 400 1 GB per episode. That's what bad encoding settings do to you.

    Edit: mind fart. Some Fate series are 1.2 GB per episode. 400 MB is high-ish, ~300 MB in mpeg, ~120 MB in avif webm.

    I remember my friend getting a 500gb storage in 2005 and thinking, how the hell will she use all that space. The divx movies I downloaded were always 700mb AVI, no matter how long.

    2003 was when I ad a 128mb ram to my 256mb pc. I recorded a lot of music and produce quite a few experimental movies on that pc.
