If one is to take abrahamic philosophy as metaphor, paradise is not a place, but rather a mindset and state of being. Hell too is such a mindset/condition. It puts Jesus' famous quote about it being easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than a rich man to pass through the gates of heaven, in a rather stark light:

Wealth is meaningless if you must sacrifice what feeds your soul to achieve it, and money itself is poor fodder for the spirit.
