The spy has already breached our defenses.

I think its more like a general statistic.

Furries are still a small minority of all people, so the chance your IT crowd has furries is not high.

But on average a furry does have a higher chance to be working in IT.

Same with people who are trans.

There is some natural logic to it. People who are a little different and not always accepted discover a safe haven in computers to connect to like minded people that do accept them. The internet has changed a lot and has become more hostile so those same people went in deeper to arrange and safeguard their own communities.

When your IT crowd does include such people there is also a big chance their not going to tell cause bias and stigma.

Programmers are more likely to be Gamers™ than furries. And the myth that they are leftist/liberal/trans is also a lie. A few famous ones are. The vast majority are just regular dudes (with signifact portion of the being chuds/incels/libertarians/right-wingers/etc).
