It depends on what alternatives there are, but I, for one, try to draw the line at the point where the project is controlled by and/or designed to serve the corporation I'm trying to boycott.

It's kinda like how the M$ fanbois say "Microsoft loves open source now" but then when you look into what projects they're contributing to, it's all middleware for getting Free Software to run on top of Microsoft stuff and other self-serving shit like that.

Being open source is a necessary condition for a software project to be considered good and beneficial to society, but it is not sufficient in and of itself.
