Plus, it's more likely that the gun will kill an inhabitant of the home. Every statistic shows that. So having one at home makes you less safe.

The only thing that I've heard that makes some lick of sense is that with a gun, you're never out of options: you at least have the option to try and defend yourself, whereas without one you're at the mercy of people with guns.

But of course that doesn't hold up in practice either. So the verdict is that guns are for emotional support.
