Surprisingly, even Brazil is more civilized in that regard. Tires and rims may not extend laterally farther than front or rear bumpers.

The downside is that people weaponize the sound system, so they don't even need to be driving to be hostile to everyone within 300 meters.

    In the US, what is street legal depends on the locality, most of which is decided by the different states. I heard that in one state, the rule was that tires and rims couldn't extend farther than the side mirrors, and so these people made their side mirrors stick out a lot farther too.
