Companies are being sued and otherwise pressured by the US government if they don't toe the Republican lime. The majority of traditional news (print, broadcast, cable) are owned by right wing billionaires. Social media has been consistently found to push extremist right wing rhetoric while downplaying or deleting the opposition.

The information still exists, but the vast majority are fed a wildly skewed picture of existence. There is absolutely censoring happening. For a recent example, CBS wouldn't air the late show interview with James Telarico because of threats from the FCC.
