Can someone explains why you would buy a computer for $5k? Gen-AI or something?

The cost of RAM and GPUs are up a shitload. This would likely be a $2500-3000 build normally, before gouging. The x090 series I think we're getting as high as $1500-2k by themselves, before "inflation" which was ridiculous.

If it were boxed for a year, it was inflated prices but not a bad as now, it could likely be $6-7k now. I reluctantly bought ram last August at $180 for 64GB DDR5, which made me cringe, but Newegg still carries out, and it's over $1000 now 🤮

The x090 series also are actually rebranded x080 Ti series, not a new tier above the old top tier. They had a few generations of superb performance improvements so they just sorta decided to fool everyone.

The 2080 Ti was the TU102 die. 3090 and 3090 Ti is, similarly, GA102, not 101. Same as the 80 Ti. Starting 40 generation, there's no 80 Ti anymore.

High-Quality 4K gaming in combination with live streaming your gaming sessions. Before the Rampocalypse this system would have costed a lot less. Nowadays the cheapest 5090 alone in my area costs more than that entire system - cheapest entry goes for around 6k€, with the cheapest 64GB DDR5 Kit @ 6000MT/s around 1k€. The Processor goes for around 600€. You wont put these components on a crap mainboard or an inadequate case or use a crappy PSU, so add around 1k€ for Mainboard, Case, Cooling and PSU.

We are now at around 9k with internal cabling when taking into account that you won't get the lowest price on every component, and you don't even have Storage, a monitor or adequate input devices. With all of that, were talking 11-12k at least.
