The few times I've charged an electric rental car, I had to go pee and buy snacks or go for lunch anyway.. in my opinion a longer break of a few minutes from driving is healthy and safer anyway.

    Right, the more you plan ahead, the more efficient you become. First, I look at where chargers are located, then I choose restaurants, grocery stores, shopping malls, hotels, based on those locations. Even sports complexes and community centres. But if you charge at home daily and stay in the same city, you don't even need public charging at all. Highway level 3 stations are those that really matter.

    For major highway corridors, we need to have chargers that are less than a 5 minute detour from the highway, at least one every 50 miles.

    Otherwise someone with 250 miles of range, who prefers 50 miles of buffer (in case a charger has a long line or is broken) might need to stop every 150 miles. That's a break a little bit too frequently.
