Why even add that complication of a secondary device? Programmable coffee makers are like $30 and they last forever. I've been using my Walmart cheapo machine for 20+ years. This is a totally solved problem.

The only innovative thing most companies' R&D budgets support is making stuff spy on you using either WiFi or GPS. And old solutions are a no-go, of course. They're people with standards, you see.
